Bunkpurugu BECE Candidates: Its Unfair For Them To Write In 2018 - Ablakwa

12:45:00 PM

Former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa has described as ‘tragic a decision by WAEC on some BECE candidates who were unable to write their first two papers on Monday.

Over 200 BECE candidates from two communities in Bunkpurugu in the Northern Region were unable to sit for the English and Religious and Moral Education papers taken on Monday, due to a change in their examination centres.

According to the West African Examination Council, the candidates would have to use the February 2018 window for re-sitters

However, speaking to Sit-in Host of ‘Kokrokoo, Nana Yaw Kesse, Thursday, the former Deputy Minister who is also the Member of Parliament for North Tongu urged the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and WAEC to find a different solution because the children are not ‘at fault.

It was a tragic one because it was not the fault of the children; 200 is quite a huge numberI will entreat the ministry of education to convene a meeting with WAEC and GES to find an immediate solution to thisif nothing is done their entry into SHS will be delayed for a whole a year. I am sure if they meet, they can find a way outin the interest of the candidate he said.
