Michael Schumacher in a coma after ski accident

Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has sustained an injury after hitting his head on a rock in the French Alps.

Michael Schumacher was wearing a helmet when the accident happened [Reuters]

Former Formula One racing world champion Michael Schumacher is in a coma after a ski accident in the French Alps, officials have said.

Authorities said that the seven-time world champion had been flown to hospital after he fell and hit his head on a rock at about 11:00 (10:00GMT) on Sunday.

The 44-year-old German was "suffering a serious brain trauma with coma on his arrival, which required an immediate neurosurgical operation," the hospital in the southeast French city of Grenoble said in a statement.

"He remains in a critical condition."

The French Mountain Gendarmerie said that Schumacher was wearing a helmet when he fell at the Meribel resort.

He was admitted to hospital at the nearby town of Moutiers, before being taken to hospital in Grenoble, the Gendarmerie said.

A specialist neurosurgeon from Paris was rushed in to oversee his treatment.

Christophe Gernigon-Lecomte, director of the Meribel resort, said he did not know the extent of the injury.

"The police are currently conducting their investigation into the origins of the fall," Gernigon-Lecomte told French radio station RMC.

Flown by helicopter

Gernigon-Lecomte said that Schumacher, who reportedly owns property at the resort, banged his head on a rock while skiing off-piste near the Dent de Burgin (Tooth of Burgin) chairlift.

The Meribel resort said two medical officers attended Schumacher at the scene of the accident, between the slopes of Georges Mauduit and la Biche, and he was flown by helicopter to hospital within 10 minutes.

"No one else was involved in the fall," Gernigon-Lecomte said.

Schumacher was hurt seriously once before, in a motorcycling accident in February 2009 in Spain when he suffered neck and spine injuries.

He recovered sufficiently from those injuries to make a comeback in F1.

Schumacher retired from Formula One last year after a three-year comeback with Mercedes, following his earlier retirement from Ferrari.

He now lives in Switzerland with his wife and two children.

Girl,17,dies in aborting imaginary pregnancy that did not exist

A 17 year –old Junior High School pupil died when she took a local potion to induce a non-existent abortion.

The deceased was alleged to have missed her menses, and suspecting pregnancy, she sought the assistance of a herbalist who was said to have prepared the potion for her to about the pregnancy.

A family source that pleaded anonymity told The Mirror that the woes of the girl, a mother of one, I started on December 3, 2013 when she reported to school and started complaining of stomach pains.

Back home, she had told her parents that she was rather having a ' headache, and so the efforts of the parents were geared towards getting her medication to get rid of the headache.

She was later rushed to the Royal Hospital in Ho where doctors' revealed that she had taken a concoction which had destroyed the organs in the stomach.

She died about three hours later.

However, a check from her medical records did not indicate that she had been pregnant, indicating that she might have taken the potion when she thought she was pregnant.

At her funeral at Taviefe-Derne near Ho, there was near chaos between the Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO) and the youth group of the town over who had the right to convey her remains to .the cemetery for burial.

She was a member of the CYO and so the group had come to convey her remains to the cemetery after the burial service, but the youth of the town would not agree, insisting that since she was a youth of the town, they must have the right to convey her remains for burial.

Their show of aggression ultimately led to the CYO leaving the remains to be carried by the youth of the town, while they followed.

A friend of the deceased's mother, who only identified herself as Sheila, told this reporter that the deceased was the only daughter of the mother.

According to Sheila, the deceased became pregnant while in ]HS 2 and the mother took the child after the delivery to enable the deceased to continue with her education.

However, suspecting she was pregnant again the girl confided in a friend that she had missed her menses and went ahead to seek the assistance of the herbalist who prepared the potion for her to abort the fetus.

Sheila said her friend explained that when the deceased took the potion, she bled a little but maintained that the entire fetus had not been destroyed and, therefore, continued to take the potion.

Her visibly saddened mother could not hold back her tears at the funeral and kept on asking why her daughter kept the issue from her.

A family source also said at a point the deceased emitted an offensive odour from the mouth but no one could say what was wrong, since she claimed she had a headache.

WASHINGTON -Michelle Obama has had enough. According to a bombshell new report, the First Lady and Barack Obama are sleeping in separate White House bedrooms. Michelle is also preparing to boot her hubby of 21 years out of their ritzy Chicago home - and seriously discussing divorce.

“The smart money says the marriage is doomed,” a source told the National Enquirer. “Barack and Michelle have had a rocky go for years and mainly stayed together for their daughters and his political career. “But now Michelle is mad AS hell. She feels violated in front of the whole world, and screamed at him, ‘I’ve had enough.’ “She’s met with divorce lawyers and told Barack that she wants a life apart from him. “Michelle will stay in the White House for the rest of Barack’s term for appearances’ sake, but she made it clear they’ll be leading separate lives.

“She’s moving into one of the vacant bedrooms in the family’s private living quarters, and she’s preparing to move his clothes and personal things out of their million-dollar house in Chicago.” Michelle was left furious after Barack was photographed brazenly flirting with Denmark’s dishy female prime minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, during the service for former South African president Nelson Mandela. Now he’s walked smack into the worst marital crisis of his life,” said the White House insider.

Ghana Health Service Joins GMO Food War

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) is calling for an extensive stakeholder debate to unravel the full effects of genetically modified (GM) foods before it is accepted and produced commercially in Ghana.

On Wednesday December 24, Director of the Health Service, Dr. Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira told Kwaku David on the 'Xpress Breakfast Show' on XFM 95.1 that, " we need to go a bit slow on that. Discussions are out there and we need to continue".

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines genetically modified (GM) foods as foods derived from organisms whose genetic material (DNA) has been modified in a way that does not occur naturally; that is through the introduction of a gene from a different organism.

According to WHO, “currently available GM foods stem mostly from plants, but in future foods derived from GMO microorganisms or GM animals are likely to be introduced on the market. Most existing genetically modified crops have been developed to improve yield, through the introduction of resistance to plant diseases or of increased tolerance of herbicides”.

"All GM foods should be assessed before being allowed on the market and FAO/WHO Codex guidelines exist for risk analysis of GM food”, WHO stated.

Several developed countries including Australia, New Zealand, Germany, France, Switzerland and Ireland have banned GM foods one way or the other due to the health implications but China, US ( not all states), Finland, Canada, Spain, Britain and South Africa among others, have accepted various forms of GM foods.

Dr. Ebenezer Appiah Denkyira believes there are reasons why a number of European countries who are more sophisticated in terms of science and technology have rejected genetically modified foods and feels Ghana should tread cautiously.

" There are some European countries who are more advanced than us and if they have restricted it, then we have to find out why and probe further because sometimes we may rush into things which may not help us, " he stated.

Asked if such foods are present on the Ghanaian market, he says his outfit do not have any data or evidence which shows the existence of genetically modified foods in the country.

He was quick to add that, " the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is supposed to register all items[foods] that come into the country but if the foods are not declared then they [FDA] wouldn't know and if it is not a good thing then consumers will be at risk ".

The Director is therefore advocating for the labeling of foods that are imported into the country especially if they are genetically modified foods.

" whatever comes in should be labeled 'GM Food' then people may have a choice if they [FDA] allows that in [ the country] ", he emphasised.

Don Jazzy & Genevieve Apparently In A Serious Love Relationship Leaving Dbanj Feeling Betrayed By Don Jazzy

According To bestofnollywood, We are shocked. And we are sure you would too. But those who know are swearing by their progenitors that the acrimony between erstwhile collaborators, Don Jazzy and D’banj would never thaw as both have now started getting even with each other through the most unexpected channel.

Reliable and redoubtable sources tell us that Don Jazzy has been knocking knees, merging sweaty bodies and burrowing at will into the widely sought-after sanctum of popular actress, Genevieve Nnaji’s.

Confirmed by two A-List celebrities, the shocking tryst between the producer and the star actress, we gathered, has been on for a few months. “Since D’banj heard the story which he also confirmed from his own independent investigation, he has been unhappy and telling those within earshot how he further feels betrayed by Don Jazzy,” one of the sources told Epochng. Apart from the understandable sense of jealousy and anger, D’banj, we hear, is sad that of all women, Don Jazzy could croon his ways into Genny’s heart.

Nigerians have not forgotten the much talked about but oft-denied relationship between two of Africa’s biggest entertainers, D’banj and Genevieve, at the height of which the actress featured in the singer’s ‘Fall in Love’ video, which further fuelled tales of a robust romance. Sighted in several exotic places across the world, the innuendoes and insinuations of marriage were never proved. Recently though, D’banj was quoted in a newspaper interview as saying that he would really love to marry Genevieve.

Now, Don Jazzy has taken over where he left off with Genny. Yet, this is not the first time such incident is happening. Over the years, especially in their Mo’Hits days, we hear that this trend began with the producer. A source close to both parties recalled the story of a Dolapo who is married and now based in Malaysia; “Dolapo was D’banj’s girl but Don Jazzy used money to lure the girl into sleeping with her, the first instalment, I remember was N300, 000. Don Jazzy can give a limb when he likes a woman.”

The source is however critical of D’banj whining about Don Jazzy making out with Genevieve saying, “After all, he is also dating An A CLASS contovisial Actress who was Don Jazzy’s babe for a long time. In fact, they were at the grand finale of the Hennessey Artistry together so why is he making it look like he had been betrayed?”

We know, like you do too, that this is just the beginning of the story.

This is a live story that just happened to me a few hours ago. I am so angry that i can not sleep and want the Whole world to hear this.

On the 24th of December 2013, i had bought ticket to fly from Ghana to Lagos and from Lagos to Port Harcourt. My flight from Ghana to Lagos was scheduled for 8:57 am Ghana time. So i decided to get up early and put my luggage in my car about to drive out to the airport to meet my flight, suddenly i was blocked behind by a taxi and four men came out from the car and asked me if i was Spinos? I said yes. How may i help you. One of the Men said he is a CID from the Police Headquarters and he presented me a fake search warrant to search my house. I looked closely to the search warrant and i noticed that the search warrant did not have my name or address on it. So i asked them how can this be, and the other man asked me a question if i was the one to teach them their job. They forcefully asked me to take them into my house. Two men joined me into my bedroom, the other two men went into my kitchen and dropped Indian Hemp on top of one of my kitchen cupboards. The two men in my bedroom ordered me to take them to my kitchen. On arriving in my kitchen, one of the men pointed directly at a black polythene bag and asked me what was that? I told him that I had no idea. He picked it up and opened it in my presence and it was Indian Hemp.

I said i know nothing about it. One of the men said it was found in my house therefore they will register a case against me on Narcotics(Possession of Drugs).

This is to put their culprit under fear because everyone knows the implication of Narcotics cases.

The other man beside him asked me if i have money to give them to settle the problem here or otherwise they will take me to the police station. I told them that I have $200 in my pocket which i planned to use as pocket expenses during my journey, that i was willing to give it to them. They said i should give them $1,000.00 USD. I told them that I don't have that money readily available with me. I told them that i can call some people who will be able to make my money $500 so that i can give them and go my way. They skeptically asked me who could that be. I told them that it is my church Pastor. They reluctantly asked me to call him. So i did and explained the matter to him. He said he wanted to speak with them and so i passed the phone to one of the police men. And the man told my pastor that he has to pay $2,500.00., that it is a case of Narcotics a serious crime in Ghana.

My pastor told them that he does not have that money in his possession. Now they are left with only two options, one to take the $200.00 in my pocket and let me go or to present me to their Criminal Ghana Police officer who is also involved in their business.

(Usually what these criminals do is this, they make friends with low rank officers working in the Ghana Police Stations and corrupt the minds of these officers to cheating people. These low rank officers go as far as providing real police handcuffs to these criminals and fake police documents such as Ghana Police ID Cards, Fake Search Warrants. These criminals get your information from people living around you. The person will inform them that it appears that you just bought a new car or there are new things they see around you, meaning that there is money in your system. This type of persons are called Informants.

When you are arrested by these criminals and they can not get the figure(amount of money) they expect from you as adviced by their Informant, they will have no choice other than to present you to their corrupt Ghana Police officer with the fake evidence they have put on you. Now the corrupt officer can register a legal case against you with the evidence they have.)

They put me in my car, one of the men entered into the drivers sit and started driving my car. I was behind with two other men. I was put in the middle. As they drove me, they consistently informed me that it will be better i settle them with $1,000.00 which they have requested, otherwise it will be worse for me if i get to the station. When they noticed i was not saying anything, they continued driving to the police station. The name of the police station is Madina Police Station. On arriving the police station, they could not drive in because their low rank officer (CID Mr. George) was not available at that time. They kept on driving on the same police station road for almost 1 hour making calls and getting worried. Finally their low rank officer confirmed on the phone that he was on his way back to the police station as he was in court all that while when the criminals were driving me up and down the police station road. I noticed sudden excitement in their reaction after the man cut the last call.

They drove me to the station and i notice a man just driving into the station also and they gave him a signal.

The man worked towards my car and they presented the Indian hemp to him and tagged me as the suspect.

The man asked me to follow him and i did same. We got into the reception and he asked me to pull off my shoes and my belt. He threw me into a police cell.

After keeping me in the cell for about 4 hours he brought me out and said i should come and write my statement.

He threatened me to accepting the Indian Hemp which was the evidence before me. I told him that I don't know anything about it. He again said that he will make the case very difficult for me if i don't accept ownership of the Indian Hemp.

I told him even if i am guilty of the offense that he is charging me, i will not accept it, how much more i am not guilty of the offense. When he noticed i was hard on writing anything to implicate me, he then asked me to pay $1,000.00. I said i can pay only $500.00. He again threw me into the cell.

He kept me there for another 5hours. After the 5hours he brought me out and said i should pay him $700.00. At this time i had no other option, it was 24th of December a day to Christmas, spending Christmas in Jail will not be fun, so i paid the $700.00 and i was let to go free. I missed by both flights, one to Lagos and the other to Port-Harcourt. And i lost $700.00

Now let us consider a person, a Nigerian who is in Ghana to husle, no family, no money. 100% he will languish in jail innocently because of these selfish, heartless and wicked people who are looking for money to celebrate their Christmas.

My fellow Nigerians in Ghana, this is what you will do to avoid or know that the persons who come to arrest you are fake.

1. Let them show you a search warrant dully signed from a court of law. Let the search warrant have your name and address in it. (otherwise it is a scam)

2. Tell them that it is your right to search them before you allow them to search you.

3. Make sure that as soon as you allow them into your house, you have a close watch on them.

4. You can also inform them that you will call your lawyer to be present ever before you allow them in.

Girls To Have Sex With End Time Founder Before Marriage

(Zimbabwe): A 17-year-old girl alleged yesterday that RMG Independent End Time Message founder Martin Gumbura demanded that all girls due for marriage first have sex with him so as to get clearance to wed in the church.

She said after raping her early this year, Gumbura told her not to "dish out sex to boys who are non-believers" because he could satisfy her.

Testifying in the Victim Friendly Court in the case in which Gumbura is alleged to have raped six other women from his church, the girl said the pastor sexually assaulted her from November last year until recently.

She says she started living with Gumbura after he convinced her that she could not stay with her parents because they were non-believers.

The girl said several other girls stayed at Gumbura's house after being separated from their "non-believing" families.

"The accused said if I told anyone about the offence no one would believe me because other girls he slept with protected him," she said. "I could not reveal the sexual abuse to my own sister because she too had sex with the pastor before she got married."

She said before she was raped, Gumbura asked her to write a testimony accepting the doctrine of polygamy, total separation from her parents and teachings that young girls can marry older men from the church.

"My friends advised me to include in my testimony that I was HIV positive and that I slept with many boys, so as to protect myself against the pastor," said the girl. "After reading my testimony, the pastor said he would offer me sex because I was already sexually active."

She said she was first raped at Gumbura's house in November 2012 after writing Ordinary Level exams when she went upstairs to collect her nightdress.

“He got me into a dark room, lifted me and pressed me against the wall before raping me. He asked me not to say a word about the event because he would commit me in the hands of Satan and told me that he wished to see me wed in church,” she testified.

The second alleged rape happened two weeks later at a cottage at the residence of the man of the cloth. Towards Valentine’s Day this year, after denying the girl permission to go home and get her O-Level results, Gumbura allegedly cornered her at the same cottage.

“I was menstruating and he ordered me to remove the sanitary pad and wash my private parts,” she said. “I asked him to forgive me and let me go, but he said he was punishing me for trying to reveal the offence.

“After raping me, he praised me for satisfying him sexually and said I would make a good wife.

“He then showed me a video on his mobile phone in which he featured with several women having oral sex. In February, I asked my mother to come and get me from that place. I never returned there.”

The founder and leader of RMG End Time Message says he plans to increase his church membership by having many wives and children to counter the many couples who are withdrawing from his church in protest against his polygamous doctrine.

In a wide ranging interview, polygamous apostle Robert Martin Gumbura said he has decided to have many wives and children who support his doctrine.

Gumbura said that following his polygamy doctrine, he faced a major exodus from his congregation while he was based in Gweru. He was left with less than 50 people and he had five wives at that time.

This week he paraded his NINE WIVES saying he has no reason to cheat with married women when he has many wives to quench his sexual appetite. Gumbura claims that he takes a lot of fruits and good meals to gain power to sexually satisfy his many wives in bed.

He is now spreading the word of God through his sexual power and is targeting 20 wives and many children to achieve his goal.

“These are my nine wives and 28 children with me today and I am targeting 20 wives who will bear me many children. It is better to teach my children and wives my doctrines rather than struggling with couples who are against it.

“Men are not being honest enough with their spouses. Many are not able to have one wife without cheating or having a hidden small house. As I read the Bible I discovered that Old Testament leaders had many wives who became their followers and that is the route I am taking.

“Many followers deserted me after I preached about polygamy in October 2000 and I was left with less than 50 people. As my wives bear many children, I will have many followers to my ministry since many are leaving me because of that truth I am preaching.

“I paraded my wives to all my church branches and from there I am losing membership as women go against it even though their husbands understood the bible verses. I am not after married women; all these (9 wives) are here for me and I built houses for them in different towns and they are not suffering.

“All my children are with me here and I have sisters’ and brothers’ cottages where I accommodate church members. I am openly teaching about polygamy in my church and I encourage them to follow that doctrine and as we speak I have six leaders under me who are polygamous,” said Gumbura.

Gumbura said that biblical Apostle Paul’s teaching found in the book of Timothy instructing leaders to be men of one wife was meant for that particular church and he (Paul) had no wife.

On HIV and AIDS, Gumbura said his wives were faithful and the danger will only be brought by him, if he was to cheat.

“That teaching was from a single man to a particular church but as you read through the bible many renowned leaders had many wives and I am one such leader,” said Gumbura.

“My wives are very faithful and protected that I trust them; if AIDS is to be found among us, I will be the one to blame and I am not a cheater. I eat fruits and good meals to boost my immune system to have power to have sex with my many wives to their satisfaction.

“If there is any one of them who is not being satisfied I can go out so that she can be open to speak to you over that. If the claims raised in 2000 about me impregnating 40 percent of married women were true how come no one is claiming maintenance from me?

“The allegations are being brought by people who left my ministry and they are part of those leaving the church and want to see me falling. I am not going to retaliate because I am above the situation,” said Gumbura

Accra Mall…A Sitting “Time-bomb”?

A member of Government’s Communication machinery has expressed security concerns over the architectural design of the Accra Mall.

According to Samuel George Nettey, the Accra Mall which is one of the busiest shopping centers in the country, is sitting on a “time bomb”. His assertions stems from the from fact that there are only two main exit points at the mall and that could pose a serious danger to visitors and shop owners, in case of any attack.

“…everyone would be trapped in there if those two main exit points are sealed off,” he stated on Metro TV’s ‘Good Morning Ghana”.

Mr. Nettey’s comments come on the heels of a revelation by
NEAT 100.9 FM, about a month ago, which pointed to the fact that the closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) that have been installed at the Accra Mall to monitor behavior and activities of shoppers and shop owners, in the bid to protecting them, are defective.

This came to light after one of the shop owners, who wants to remain anonymous, requested for a playback of the surveillance videos to help unravel a theft case. To his dismay, he was told the cameras were out of service after many days of asking.

According to the reportage, this brings the safety of shoppers and leaseholders at the shopping precinct in question but the General Manager of the Accra Mall denied the story, saying no such incident had been brought to his attention.

However, in a telephone interview Mr. Joseph Amo Mensah who admitted to

NEAT FM that, surveillance in and around the Mall is not 100% effective, because there are blind spots where cameras are unable to cover, stressed that security at the mall has been reinforced since the Westgate incident and the public safety therefore is assured.

But Samuel George Nettey questioned why “every inch” of the mall and shopping centers in the country are not covered by CCTV.

“…in other jurisdictions, you would realize that in such public institutions, there are blue prints available to people like the police. Such that when there is crisis and the police in responding, know every corner in that building”.

He further advised for both an onsite and remote storage of the feed from the CCTV Cameras to prevent the loss of vital information that could lead to prevention of crime.

Return Of Cash And Carry? NHIS In Danger…Scheme Faces Hard Financial Times

Statistics available to The Al-Hajj points to the fact that until the Mahama-led administration reverses its position and takes concrete and immediate steps to find additional source of funding for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the over thirty six percent of Ghanaians benefitting from the scheme would soon have to revert to the “obnoxious” cash and carry system of the twentieth century.

The financial difficulties confronting the boldest ever pro-poor health financing scheme has become so apparent that managers of the scheme are unable to fulfill financial obligations to accredited service providers who are currently threatening to begin rejecting NHIS card-holders any time from next week.

The Al-Hajj’s investigations have revealed that due to the huge outstanding funding gap of about GHC 370 million, the scheme is in about four to six months of arrears to the accredited health service providers who are threatening to stop providing services to NHIS subscribers.

Cost Of Living To Worsen Next Year If... - TUC Warns

The Secretary General of the Trade Unions Congress (TUC), Kofi Asamoah says increases in tariffs through the automatic tariff adjustment system beginning next year, is likely to worsen the living standards of Ghanaians.

According to him, even though stakeholders agreed to the new system and it commencement early 2014, when the challenges came up some weeks ago, its introduction have marred the Christmas festivities for workers.

Speaking to Joy News Tuesday, Mr. Asamoah indicated that the TUC would want to analyse the indicators used in the tariff adjustment system as it is important not to allow the indicators to bring untold hardships on the people.

He therefore called for the economic management of the tariff adjustment indicators to ensure that it is always kept down to suit the levels of workers in the country.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) yesterday, announced that tariffs for electricity will go up by 9.73 percent while that of water will go up by 6.80 per cent from January 1.

Meanwhile, the PURC insists that the increases are a reflection of the Automatic Tariff Adjustment and will therefore be implemented as scheduled.

2013, The Year Of Corruption - Ghana

Government, through the Interior Minister, Kwesi Ahwoi announced last week, that December 25, and 26, 2013, Christmas Day and Boxing Day respectively as well as January 1 2014, New Year’s Day are statutory public holidays.

But after the Government failed to affix a theme to this year’s festivities, the National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Emmanuel Atefuah Danso has dubbed the celebration as “2013, the year of Corruption”.

Explaining further, he maintained that the trend of corruption and the lackadaisical way Mahama’s administration has handled it is alarming, considering the fact that nothing has happened to the institutions and individuals indicted by committee reports.

Emmanuel Atefuah Danso posited on Okay Fm that Ghanaians will always remember the year under review as government reprehensible dealings in SUBAH, SADA, GYEEDA, Isofoton and Waterville matters.

“…..have you heard the theme Ghanaians have given this year’s Christmas? They call it ‘2013, the year of corruption’……everybody is talking about corruption and so, in the solid foundation President Mahama has laid, a lot of monies have been deposited in SUBAH, SADA, GYEEDA, Isofoton and Waterville”, he surmised.

The NPP Youth activist however urged Ghanaians to collectively help in the fight against corruption, praying that this behavior in Mahama-led administration does not become part and parcel in the year 2014.

Worst Christmas On Record, Boys Tire, Girls Dey Talk, Towns Are Deserted... And Mahama Goes On Holiday With Family? Seriously? Geeeeeez

Prez Mahama Is An “Insensitive” Father

President Mahama’s annual leave with his family to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Christmas celebration has elicited criticism from some Ghanaians.

They have taken to the social media to slate the president for taking the trip in the wake of the current economic hardship.

The latest to join the bandwagon is an activist of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Asante Yeboah, who has accused the President of setting a bad example as a father of the nation.

President John Dramani Mahama and his family, on Monday December 23, 2013, took a short annual leave for the UAE for the Christmas Holidays. A release from the Office of the President said, in his absence, Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur would act as President.

Taking into account the economic implication of the President’s trip, the NPP communicator averred in an interview with that the First Family’s Christmas trip will bring nothing of worth to the country, except to rather deepen the economic woes of the country.

“…..we should ask ourselves, is it the right example the President is setting for us to emulate? He has been an insensitive and a bad father who will leave his people to their fate in times of trouble during the Christmas period without any care in the world how his children will celebrate the festivities… food, water and electricity and he doesn’t want to share the moment of hardship with us,” he pontificated.

To him, the president’s trip to the UAE simply shows the country lacks holiday resorts and an indictment on the tourism industry, and further seems to suggest to those who can afford the luxury to travel outside to follow suit in the face of pressure.

Former Child Star Singer Sues Kanye West

Ricky Spicer sang with two sets of twins in the group Ponderosa Twins Plus One.

Ricky Spicer says his voice from 1970 song 'Bound' is heard on West's 'Bound 2'

The credits for the new song say the snippet was licensed from two music companies

Spicer seeks unspecified damages

(CNN) -- The lead singer of a 1970 tune that is sampled on a new Kanye West song has filed suit, alleging the rapper used the snippet without his permission.

Ricky Spicer was 12 when he became the lead singer for a group called the Ponderosa Twins Plus One in 1969. A year later, they recorded "Bound," according to the suit.

Spicer, now 56, says his voice is heard in West's song "Bound 2" at least four times.

"Mr. Spicer's voice is sampled exactly as he recorded it and his voice, altered by the Defendants, is also heard several times," the 13-page complaint alleges.

In the credits for the album "Yeezus," Def Jam Records says the song was licensed through Rhino Entertainment and Robinson Music Group.

The lawsuit names West, Def Jam, Rhino, Roc-A-Fella Records, and Universal Music Group as defendants. It seeks unspecified damages for common law copyright infringement.

The Ponderosa Twins were two sets of twins and Spicer. According to the lawsuit, Alvin and Alfred Pelham are dead and Keith and Kirk Gardner are imprisoned. Spicer has power of attorney for the Gardner twins, the suit says.

The suit, which was filed in New York, says Spicer has a copyright on "Bound." It asks for exemplary damages and further compensation the court thinks is appropriate.

It has emerged that the Toyota Corolla and Camry models are the two hottest used cars everyone wants on the secondary car market in Ghana. The interest has increased following better deals online spearheaded by the number one online classifieds website,

Three of the five best selling cars right now on are Toyota, Nissan and Kia despite the massive influx of second-hand Hyundaiand Honda cars into the country within the last couple of years.

Car garages in the two biggest cities, Accra and Kumasi testify to an increased pressure on the used car market particularly the Toyota models, compared with last year.

(Source: Brands used in this analysis include Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, VW, Mercedes, Ford, Mitsubishi, BMW and Daewoo

Toyota sales accounts for about 33% of all the cars traded on the online classifieds market followed by Nissan with 13%. Kia sales accounts for 7%. The top three cars constitute almost 53% of all the second-hand cars sold on the online classifieds market in Ghana.

One interesting revelation is that even though the average price of a Toyota is pegged at GHc 26,925 which is 17% and 57% more expensive than Nissan and Kia respectively it is still the most patronised brand. This underpins the robustness of the Toyota brand compared to the other car brands. “There is so much demand for Toyota models to stop prices from falling on the second-hand car market. It’s all about good value for money” remarks one car dealer at Tesano in Accra.

Between June and November 2013, about 22,000 cars have been listed on and the site currently has 15,000 available for sale on the website.

Accra and Kumasi contribute about 82% of the second hand-cars that are traded on the online classifieds market in Ghana.

Desmond Elliot Exposed - Involved In Heated Romance With Two Sisters

Nollywood Star actor, Desmond Elliot is in the middle of a serious controversy. The handsome Nollywood top shot, National Enquirer gathered is presently in a sizzling romance with two blood sisters and this has been causing squabbles between the half-caste ladies of same parents, Roseline and Yvette Muere.

According to one of Desmond’s close friends, the actor has been secretly stepping out with the two sisters separately and as at the last time, he was spotted with the eldest, Roseline Muerer at the just concluded Nollywood at 20 event which held at the prestigious Intercontinental hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Though not so many people is aware that they came together, the “couple” who came in same car stylishly stepped into the hall in a ‘CODED’ manner to deceive the public.

And in another development, Desmond whose wife has bore him 2 set of twins has also been seen with the youngest Muerer, Yvette at The Mall, where they went to see movies together, he has also flown the teenage girl to several movie sets in Calabar and as a matter of fact, the school certificate holder, Yvette has once crashed Desmond’s coupe’s car which she cruises around.

Tracing the genesis of their relationship, we gathered that, the beautiful Roseline sought Desmond’s help to make her an actress and no sooner they met than he (Desmond) featured her to star alongside notable faces like Uti Nwachukwu, Ini Edo, Lydia Forson, Morris Sesay in one of the films he directed, In The Cupboard, a story that revolves around the lives of six siblings born into the rich, aristocratic Desouza family; a name synonymous with wealth & power, the rest as they say has been history.

The source told National Enquirer further that Desmond and Roseline’s affair blossomed to the extent that, Rose’s mum got wind of it, this was what informed the closeness of Rose younger sister, Yvette and before anybody could say Jack Robinson, the teenage girl had moved in with Desmond in his matrimonial home in Lekki without her sister’s consent, and meanwhile Desmond’s wife has since been in the US where she was delivered of their second set of twins.

Bubble however burst when Yvette’s whereabouts was unknown and Rose’s efforts to visit her boyfriend who had paraded and introduced her to friends as the new woman in his life were abortive, this aroused suspicion as Rose had to confront her sister to tell her of her hidden place. It was a hot argument between the blood sisters but we learnt they later resolved, even though Yvette confessed that nothing has happened between her and Desmond despite that she’s been everywhere with him including staying in his matrimonial home and cruising his ride.

Trust your darling National Enquirer, in our efforts to nail the story, we rang Desmond Elliot and his swift response was not just appalling but amazing, here us: “this call is from National Enquirer, we’re investigating a story of your relationship with the Muerer sisters, Roseline and Yvette, we would like to know more about it, after a moment of sigh, he told us he was driving and after confronted him with the fact at hand, in a trembling voice, the actor said “look, just wait like that, and the next thing was a lady’s voice on the line, “hi hello, my name is Roseline Muerer, how’re you, and just before we began to ask her anything, Desmond spoke again, just wait o, hold on again and alas, he put the younger Muerer on the line again, hello how’re you, my name is Yvette and he got the line back line, look what I can tell you is that, we’re all family friends, don’t know who’s giving you the story but the story is unfounded, in fact, do you have a blackberry, please text it to me I’ll add you right away so that we can chat further, he said.

We however sent the blackberry pin but he didn’t add the number till we went to bed. Meanwhile the source who gave us the story has promised to dig more and tell us the amazing lifestyles of the Muerer sisters, the story of their father who hails from Holland and that of their Urhobo mum. Keep a date.

Miss Malaika Charged For Stealing

Hamamat Montia-and boyfriend Versa Keskinen
THE BENCH warrant issued by an Accra Circuit Court for the arrest of Hamamat Montia, winner of the 2006 Miss Malaika beauty pageant, has been rescinded.

The warrant was issued following Hamamat's failure to appear before the court presided over by Jennifer Myers Ahmed on a stealing charge.

The Malaika queen, who had been accused of stealing an unregistered Toyota Highlander 2008 model valued at $35,000, and belonging to her former Finnish boyfriend, appeared in the company of her lawyer to have the warrant rescinded.

She was further charged with the offence of stealing but pleaded not guilty.

The court after her lawyer, Addo Atuah's intervention, granted her a GH¢100,000 bail with two sureties, one to be a public servant.

The case had been adjourned to January 20, 2014 for hearing.

Hamamat allegedly claimed her former boyfriend, one Keskinen, gave the vehicle to her as a birthday gift when they were in love and even published it on the Internet.

However, Keskinen, the CEO of Veljekset Keskinen Oy in Finland, had denied publishing such information on the internet.

The police said Hamamat failed to open the said publication on the internet for investigations.

The facts were that in 2010, one Carl, a native of Finland, introduced Hamamat to Keskinen as a professional model in Ghana who he could do business with.

The complainant reportedly told Hamamat he was organizing a beauty contest for African ladies in Europe and would like her to participate as one of the judges.

After the programme, the two fell in love when the Malaika queen visited Finland on a three-month business trip, which period she spent with Keskinen.

Keskinen later visited Ghana to study the business environment and Hamamat took him round in a rented vehicle.

The complainant later decided to purchase a vehicle to use whenever he came to Ghana on his business trips.

When Keskinen discussed with the accused that he wanted to buy a car to use any time he arrived in the country on a business trip, Hamamat allegedly introduced him to De-Gjando Company Limited, a car sales company.

Keskinen bought the Toyota Highlander 2008 model from the company at a price of $35,000.

After making full payment, Keskinen left the vehicle under the care of the company, together with his particulars and passport pictures for the vehicle to be registered in his name.

When Hamamat went to Finland for the third time, she reportedly had problems with the complainant and their relationship turned sour.

Two weeks later when she returned, Hamamat, allegedly without the knowledge of her boyfriend, went to the company and requested the vehicle to attend a relative's funeral.

The company released the vehicle to her but she allegedly refused to send it back and rather demanded the original documents of the vehicle from the company, which request was turned down.

After threatening the officials with a court action, the company released the document to her and Hamamat purportedly registered the car in her name.

All efforts by the complainant to retrieve the car had proved futile; hence the matter was reported to the police, ending up in court.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Exposed In Public - Nipple Slips Out

“The Client List” star Jennifer Love Hewitt suffers an epic full nipple slip in the photo above.

This is clearly just a sad cry for attention, as even Jennifer Love Hewitt’s nipple is embarrassed for her as it tries to hide its head in shame underneath her armpit.

Jennifer Love Hewitt needs to come to grips with the fact that she lost her “sex symbol” status some 20 odd years ago now. The only way she can regain any of her lost glory (and make amends for that horrible “Ghost Whisperer” show) is to stick an IED between her rapidly sagging titties and hop on an Israeli commuter bus.

Maheeda Gone Bonkers - No Hope For Recovery

If you were once a prostitute and now supposedly you have turned over a new leaf and are now a “Gospel” Singer so to speak, then what the hell is the meaning of all this trashy behavior? Maybe she is an agent of the dark side? Well I leave you to make your own judgement.

Nollywood Séx Scandals Exposed!

In a recently published story by a Nigerian magazine, the prevalence of scandals in the Nigerian movie industry was highlighted and it was noted that these scandals, which have become synonymous with Nollywood, have been perpetrated mostly by actresses.

Scandals ranging from husband snatching to séxual immorality are synonymous with Nollywood acts, and these have affected the image of many Nigerian actors and actresses.

Below are some of names mentioned in the story;

 Mercy Johnson
Mercy Johnson has always been in the news even before her controversial wedding to Edo big boy, Prince Odi Okojie on Saturday, August 27, 2011. The lady hit the news headlines when she was pictured exposing her private part at an event. It was obvious in the photograph that she did not wear pant or bra. Her wedding became an issue, which was feasted on by the print media as she was alleged to have snatched someone’s husband as revealed by one Lovelyn, a supposed wife of Prince Okojie. Mercy Johnson is one actress with scandalous séxual controversies

Becca Disappoints Fans At ‘Girl Talk Show’

Many patrons at the Becca Girl Talk show last Friday might have been disappointed at the poor organisation that characterized the show at the National Theater.

For such a well-publicized event and one that has won the trust of most ladies for the past two years, a reason that may have accounted for the full auditorium, it was expected that the show will live up to its billing.

But at the advertised time of 8:00 pm when the show was to begin, the patrons who were seated had to deal with the ordeal of watching an empty stage for more than an hour because there was virtually “no show” or music playing to entertain the audience.

The performance by one Ekua who gave a good account of herself was thought to be the start of the show but that was not to be as the patrons had to wait for another hour or so after her performance for the next act.

As if to save the situation, another lady who was later seen as a member of Becca’s backup singers also came on stage to do her own thing but at this stage, the audience wanted nothing more than to see Becca in action as they started screaming “ Where is Becca, we want Becca”.

At a point, the show was virtually turned into an extension of a night club when the guests had no choice than to entertain themselves with the loud music blarring from the PA system.

Not even the “antics” adopted by TV presenter, Stacy Amoateng who later came on stage and introduced herself as the MC for the day would calm the anxious audience who by then had started letting out their frustrations. At this stage, there seemed a bad show looming.

Heralded by Cwesi Oteng’s God Dey Bless me, the “You Lied to me” singer hit the stage at exactly 11:30 pm and did her bit to entertain the audience but anyone who has seen many of Becca’ performances would confirm that she wasn’t phenomenal on the night.

There was not much connection between her and the audience during her performance because she didn’t get them involved.

Actress Nana Ama Mc Brown once again showed her versatility when she performed South African music duo, Mafikizolo’s popular Khona. Probably receiving the loudest applause on the night, she was mistaken for singer Sherifa Gunu when she first hit the stage.

For the first time on the night, she got the audience on their feet as she carried everyone along during the time of her performance.

A Chinese lady who did Becca’s “Daa kɛ daa” was outstanding and there was also a performance by Deborrah Vanessa known for “Uncle Obama” song.

There were supporting acts from actor, Van Vicker, Cwesi Oteng, Trigmatic, Kwaw Kesse King Ayisoba and Akwaboah.

Over all, though it wasn’t really an interesting package from Becca’s outfit, Mc Brown’s performance and comedian Lil Win who came to do his own thing helped to save an otherwise flop.

married with a daughter, a gospel singer by profession, and yet she still does this publicly? I smell serious psychosis danger.

The mind like any part of the human body can break down or be diseased and will therefore need to be treated. You cannot possibly tell me that the above lady is a pro gospel singer and yet goes around posing nude for the public. If you have been observant of her pictures that she posts, you will realize that they bear around the 'bondage' theme which even in the hard p0rn industry is considered extreme. She may look and sound okay, but psychologically she needs serious help. Why did she break down and cry when fans called in with insults? Ask yourself that.

Top Richest Multi Millionaire Pastors In Nigeria

These days, millions of souls, desperate for financial breakthroughs, miracles and healing, all rush to the church for redemption.

God is good, especially if you’re a Nigerian pastor with some business savvy.

And while the bible expressly states that salvation is free, at times it comes with a cost: offerings, tithes, gifts to spiritual leaders, and a directive to buy literature and other products created by men of God.

Pastors are no longer solely interested in getting people to Heaven; they've devised intelligent ways to make good money while reaching out to souls.

Take Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, for example. He is the founder and lead pastor of the Christ Embassy, a thriving congregation with branches in Nigeria, South Africa, London, Canada and the United States.

His publishing company, Loveworld Publications, publishes ‘Rhapsody of Realities,’ a monthly devotional he co-authors with his wife.

It sells over 2 million copies every month at $1 apiece. He also owns television stations, newspapers, magazines, a hotel, a fast-food chain, and more.

Many other Nigerian pastors are similarly building multi-million dollar empires from their churches.

Today, pastors fly around in private jets, drive fancy cars like Daimlers, Porsches and BMWs, don Rolexes and Patek Phillipes, and own breathtaking mansions all over the world.

After the blog post I wrote in May about Nigerian pastors owning private jets, I was bombarded with emails from readers requesting to know the richest pastors in Nigeria.

So I set out to investigate the assets of some of Nigeria’s most prominent pastors, and I came up with conservative estimates of their fortunes.

I contacted representatives for all of the pastors and all except Matthew Ashimolowo’s representative confirmed ownership of the assets I list. Representatives for Pastor Ashimolowo did not respond to my emails.

Bishop David Oyedepo

Affiliation: Living Faith World Outreach Ministry, aka Winners Chapel

Estimated net worth: $190 million

David Oyedepo is Nigeria’s wealthiest preacher. Ever since he founded the Living Faith World Outreach Ministry in 1981, it has grown to become one of Africa’s largest congregations.

The Faith Tabernacle, where he hosts three services every Sunday, is Africa’s largest worship center, with a seating capacity of 50,000.

Oyedepo owns four private jets and homes in London and the United States.

He also owns Dominion Publishing House, a thriving publishing company that publishes all his books (which are often centered on prosperity).

He founded and owns Covenant University, one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions, and Faith Academy, an elite high school.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Church: Believers’ Loveworld Ministries, a.k.a Christ Embassy

Estimated net worth: $100 million – $120 million

Last year, the charismatic preacher was at the center of a $35 million money laundering case in which he was accused of siphoning funds from his church to foreign banks.

Pastor Chris pleaded no wrongdoing and the case was eventually dismissed.

His church, Christ Embassy, boasts more than 40,000 members, several of whom are successful business executives and politicians.

Oyakhilome’s diversified interests include newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite TV, hotels and extensive real estate.

His Loveworld TV Network is the first Christian network to broadcast from Africa to the rest of the world on a 24 hour basis.

Prophet Temitope Joshua

Estimated net worth: $60 million – $80 million

Nigeria’s most controversial clergyman is also one of its richest and most philanthropic.

T.B Joshua heads the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), a congregation he founded in 1987, which accommodates over 15,000 worshipers on Sundays.

The Pastor has remained controversial for several years for his inexplicable powers to heal all sorts of difficult to cure diseases, including HIV/AIDS, cancer and paralysis.

For miracle-craving worshipers, it’s the perfect seduction. The church currently has branches in Ghana, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Greece.

In the past three years, he has given over $20 million to causes in education, healthcare and rehabilitation programs for former Niger Delta militants.

He owns Emmanuel TV, a Christian television network, and was close friends with late Ghanaian President Atta Mills.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo

Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC)

Estimated net worth: $25 million – $50 million

In 1992, Foursquare Gospel Church, a Nigerian church, sent Ashimolowo to open a satellite branch in London. But Pastor Matthew had other ideas and decided to set up his own church instead.

Today, his Kingsway International Christian Center is reportedly the largest Pentecostal church in the United Kingdom.

In 2009, the church posted profits of close to $10 million and assets worth $40 million.

Ashimolowo earns an annual salary of $200,000, but his real wealth comes from varied business interests including his media company, Matthew Ashimolowo media, which churns out Christian literature and documentaries.

Ashimolowo’s representatives did not respond to a request confirming his net worth and ownership of all these assets.

Chris Okotie

Church: Household of God Church

Net worth: $15 million -$25 million

Pastor Okotie made his first success as a popular pop musician in the 80s. He found the light, embraced the bible and set up the Household of God Church, one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant congregations.

His 5,000 member church consists predominantly of Nollywood celebrities, musicians, and society people.

He contested and lost Nigerian presidential elections for the third time this year under the Fresh Party, a political party he founded and funds.

An automobile lover, he owns a Mercedes S600, Hummer and Porsche among several others.

And You Call Them Men Of God. Compare the life of Christ, his disciples and all other prophets in the bible and see where they fall. Remember, the bible says that in the last days there will be false prophets who will perform many great miracles and yes some of them in Christ's name. But he will tell them on that day that 'I do not know you'. Be careful whom you follow or you will be just like bulls to the slaughter.

Electricity And Water Tariffs Go Up Yet Again

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced new tariff figures which take effect from the January 1, 2013.

Electricity has been increased by 9.7 percent across board and water, by 6.80 percent.

The latest figures, according to a statement signed by the Chairman of the PURC, Dr E. K. Amenu, is as a result of the full implementation of the Automatic Adjustment Formula (AAF).

The statement said the current increase has been largely driven by movements in the exchange rates, inflation, and demand variation.

The PURC further directed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), and Northern Electricity Distribution Company of Ghana (NEDCO) not to bill consumers retrospectively (back billing) with the new Tariffs.

The Commission further directed the ECG, NEDCO and GWCL to improve customer responsiveness during this yuletide season to avoid the incidences of unattended faults in the electricity and water distribution systems and also ensure the sustainability of the quality of supply.

Uncle Ebo White Uncovered! - 'I was a despised introvert with an inferiority complex'

Mr. James Ebo Whyte, popularly known as Uncle Ebo Whyte has dug deep into his childhood to retrace his steps to an unlikely end as one of Ghana's popular playwright and motivational speaker.

For his current achievement bears no resemblance to what I could have been if he remained " a despised introvert with  an inferiority complex".

He shared his life story on Joy News' Tarzan's Take that featured an unusual set of guest Ebo Whyte and fellow playwright Kwaku Sintim Misa,KSM.

The trained accountant and statistician said he wasn't the "kind of boy who fitted in".

Ebo Whyte was always under the pressure of comparison with his younger brother who he describes as "more handsome, more adjusted more intelligent"

He confessed that he "had a difficult battle with inferiority complex " and couldn't bring himself to answer a question in class unless he faced the grim prospect of being beaten.

His prospects at a good education was grim. All that was expected was a Standard Seven education and then off to learn apprenticeship as a mechanic in Kumasi, Ashanti regional capital.

But it all changed after an encounter with a teacher Miss  Commey  who challenged him to sit for the common entrance.

The motivational speaker recalled her words "come and pick a form if you pass I will look after you".  And at that South Suntreso L/A middle school he and one other became the only two persons who passed the exams with flying colours.

Today, the CEO  of Roverman Productions from that life-changing boost has overcome several other challenges to became one of Ghana's most successful playwrights. Since 2008, Roverman has been producing family-oriented plays every quarter and attracting over 38,000 patrons a year.

He's successfully directed and produced plays he's written, among which are the much acclaimed and  received "Unhappy Wives Confused Husbands"; "Terms of Divorce" and "Caught in the Act". He produces these plays on quarterly bases.

Ebo Whyte also presents an iconic Food for Thought program twice a week on Joy FM's Super Morning Show.

Story by Ghana||Edwin Appiah|[email protected]

Despite all that he still came out tops. Kudos to him. This goes to show that one should never give up on his or her own dreams. Humans are nothing more than flesh and blood just like you and have no dominion over you. You can be whomever you want to be.
"That which we call a rose, by any other name, will smell just as sweet" - Shakespeare.
