AT LEAST 20 sexual assault cases against teachers in the Umlazi education district in Durban are still pending, with the youngest victim being a six-year-old pupil.

But in all these cases teachers have been let off the hook due to a lack of evidence or, according to the KwaZulu-Natal department of education, because parents made deals with the alleged perpetrators to pay “damages” in the form of inhlawulo.

The victims are also often scared to testify against the alleged perpetrators because most schools have “cabals” of teachers, who act as prosecutors and interrogate the pupils in staff rooms to protect colleagues.

The Umlazi education district is the biggest in the province. According to a source, 20 cases have been laid against teachers. The source said the cases were just the tip of the iceberg.

He said the department of education had also noticed a trend in which former model C schools no longer reported sex-related cases.

The schools allegedly tell parents that they have “mechanisms to deal with such cases”, the source said, adding that in some cases perpetrators negotiate with parents and urge them not to pursue the charges … in exchange for inhlawulo.

“There is one case in the district in which a teacher impregnated a pupil, but paid ilobolo,” the source said.

A parent, whose child was allegedly assaulted by a teacher, said yesterday that her child was victimised two times at school.

“She was sexually assaulted by a teacher, then other teachers interrogated her and threatened to kill her if she continued with the case,” the mother said. “My daughter was moved to another school because it was unsafe for her.”

The mother said her daughter was still traumatised by the incident.

“She received support from the district office and the Thuthuzela Care Centre at Mshiyeni Hospital. Though she seems to be coping, we want justice done,” she said.

Yesterday provincial education official Sihle Mlotshwa confirmed that the youngest victim in the Umlazi district was six years old.

But Mlotshwa denied that the department was aware of the 20 cases.

“We know of about seven cases at Vukuzakhe, Mawelewele, Yellowwood Park and Zwelethu high schools, the Isidingo Primary School and at two other schools that I still have to confirm,” Mlotshwa said.

He said the most recent alleged rape case was that of a six-year-old pupil at Isidingo Primary School.

(Education) MEC Senzo Mchunu is on record as having said that even if the alleged perpetrator pays ilobolo, it does not mean a thing – “sexual relations or romantic relations with learners are against the law”. .

Linda Naidoo, director of Child Line, said the problem was alarming.

“We (Umlazi) have one of the highest number of cases. The problem is very huge. Some cases are also not reported because perpetrators manipulate victims.”

I did not breakup with my ‘baby-daddy’ on Valentine’s Day- Caroline Sampson explains + plus Sammy Forson speaks out!

Following the narration of her heartbreaking story about how her boyfriendbroke up with her on Valentine’s Day on YFM recently, radio and TV hostCaroline Sampson has made clarifications on the story which has been interpreted in the media to be about her break-up with the father of her son. She explained on twitter that she never mentioned any names on radio or made reference to her ‘jilter’ being the father of her son.

Meanwhile, Sammy Forson confirmed the story that he had a job to collect fromCaroline on that Valentine’s Day just as Caroline had stated. He however wished to clear the misconception in the minds of some people that Caroline broke up with the boyfriend because she had a romantic relationship with Sammy. “It was a professional relationship”.

So for those who missed the memo, here is the story Caroline narrated on air, PLEASE READ and stop creating your own stories. LOL:

“I still don’t get it but that’s what he did…I cried. It is like the only thing that comes to me when I think about it; like Valentine’s Day paaa. We were out the previous night. We were not together but we ended up at the same place. If he was hiding and I caught him then I don’t know, then the next day he sent somebody to tell me that it’s over ooo.”

“What is funny about this is that Sammy Forson is in there somewhere. SammyForson, Benny Blanco, Peer Pressure and Reggie Rockstone ….It was SammyForson, he caused it from day one. He gave me this voice-over job and I was recording it at the station (Citi FM) that I worked. He was going to come for it and I waited and waited for him. Like 11 to midnight this guy (Sammy) wasn’t coming. So the guy (her boyfriend) called and asked me where I was and I told him I was at the station waiting for Sammy Forson and he thought I was lying. That was what happened; it was a week to Valentine. So the whole week, I didn’t hear from him because I was at the station working for Sammy Forson.”

“And then when I met him at Reggie Rockstone’s Office, the club, Benny Blanco them saw me and were giving me fans. So I’m sure the guy thought that we were doing it to spite him and then the next day which is Valentine, he called his friend to call me aaah…it was like a joke. And then three months later I realized…”

Woman 22, has 50 orgasms a day and is turned on by her mobile phone

Living in a state of permanent sexual arousal might not sound like such a bad deal for many of us, but for Amanda Gryce, 22, it's no laughing matter.

The 22-year-old says her life is being ruined by constant multiple orgasms which can be triggered by just about anything imaginable, including loud music, car journeys and even ringing mobile phones.

And it can happen absolutely anywhere - when she's with her friends and even while she's at work as a sales associate in a baby products shop.

The reason for the daily onslaught of orgasms is a rare condition known as Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome or PSAS, which first manifested when Gryce was just eight years old.

And although PSAS is rare, it can have a devastating effect on the handful of people who suffer from the condition.

Last year, 39-year-old Gretchen Molannen, from Florida, committed suicide after battling the condition for 16 years.

The news was particularly difficult to take for Amanda, also from Florida, who sometimes has to masturbate up to 15 times in one day to get relief.

She said: 'It is not pleasurable: you could say it has become a torture. This condition controls your life completely and it is like living a nightmare.'

'I can have 50 orgasms in one day and five or ten within an hour of each other. It happens when I'm with my friends or out in public and it's very embarrassing.

'It kills me inside. I just have to put on a smile and pretend that nothing's wrong.

'Orgasms are supposed to be a good feeling but I've had them every day for so long now that I'm living with constant fear and shame.'

She added: 'At my lowest points, I have thought about suicide but I had to reassure myself that I would never resort to something like that and that it wasn't going to happen to me.'

Amanda first began suffering from the condition when she was just eight and by the age of 13 she was battling the intense feelings as she sat in her classroom during lessons.

But, raised Catholic and told in Sunday school that sexual thoughts and masturbation was a sin, she was too scared to confide in anyone.

She said: 'As a child I had no idea what was happening to me - I thought I was just sex-obsessed. I had to masturbate to relieve my condition and I felt guilty every time I did it.'

It wasn't until 2008 that she heard about PSAS while listening to the radio but despite contacting four different doctors for help, found that none had ever heard of the condition.

Since then she has tried to move on with her life and, at 20, even lost her virginity after years of fearing sex would make her condition worse.

But she admits she has not been able to have a steady relationship - because men either take advantage or are intimidated.

She said: 'When I lost my virginity I was left emotional and disappointed. It didn't make me feel better. The guy that I was with seemed sympathetic at first but then used my condition to get more sex.

'I've been with a few guys since but it's difficult- I've found some guys are even intimidated.

'Thankfully I've had the courage to tell my family and they have all been very understand and supportive.'

She added: 'I get people say I'm making it up and that I'm really a nymphomaniac but I don't let it faze me.

'I just now hope that there will one day be more understanding of this condition and my story will give just one other person the courage to get support.'

Child prostitutes from 10 to 17 years paid 2 cedis to service clients in Sekondi-Takoradi

Child prostitution is flourishing at Sekondi landing beaches and other suburbs of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region.

The Social Services and Gender Sub-Committee of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, at a meeting in Sekondi, noted that minors aged between 10 and 17 years take their pimps to small kiosks at the beaches and pay GHc2.00 before engaging in sexual escapades with their patrons.

It cited NKotompo, Sekondi, New Takoradi and European Town in the metropolis as areas well-known for such immoral activities.

The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. John Davis, who is also the Assembly Member for Anaji West Electoral Area, expressed worry over the trend, and said the Committee would liaise with the various chief fishermen, assembly members and queen-mothers of the Fishmongers Association in those areas to stop the practice.

He also lamented that some children of school-going-age in coastal communities in the metropolis were reported to have abandoned the classroom for fishing.

Madam Josephine Cobbina, Assemble Member of Bankyease Electoral Area, near Takoradi, suggested that minors involved in fishing and prostitution should be educated on the ramifications of their actions.

Open sex at Kwahu Easter

A bizarre incident marked this year’s Easter celebrations at Kwahu in the Eastern Region, leaving many merrymakers and celebrants in great shock, after a pretty lady in her mid-twenties openly had sex with a young man in the full glare of merry-makers.

The alleged incident took place on the popular Obomeng high street where many merry-makers on such occasions converge for fun and socialization, around 8.30pm on Saturday, and where Adom FM was having a massive street jam for celebrants.

The young man, in his late twenties, had accosted the lady who was dressed in skimpy knickers and an ‘inviting’ white top with the inscription, “Who can sex with me in public” and challenged her that he was ready to have sex with her in public.

The young man, who looked drunk and was in the company of friends, started undressing.

The lady readily accepted the challenge, also undressed and the two engaged in ‘rollicking’ sex in the open, with onlookers watching the spectacle in great shock.

The lady in question was said to be a prostitute and was later seen chatting up and chasing clients for sex for GH¢10.

Many wondered why morality in modern Ghana had sunk so low, while others expressed the opinion that people around should have arrested and handed them over to the police.

The bizarre incident became the talk of the Easter celebrations.

This year’s Easter celebrations, apart from the open sex incident, were also low-key, with many people being passive celebrants.

Even though the main converging point for celebrants, Obomeng high street, was filled with merry-makers, many Kwahu towns like Atibie, Mpraeso, Obo, Nkwatia, Abetifi and Pepease did not experience the normal vibrancy associated with the Easter celebrations on the Kwahu ridge.

Many attributed the low turn-out to the economic hardships and the ongoing biometric registration exercise.

Many fresh young celebrants drank their heads off and caused a lot of damage to people’s cars as they openly banged on moving vehicles.

Most of the youth were also violent towards others despite the heavy presence of the police to maintain law and order.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Seth Kwame Acheampong, who was in the thick of affairs regarding the celebrations, expressed worry over the uncoordinated events at the celebrations.

“Kwahu Easter has become part of the national calendar and is a major tourist attraction in the country which government can take advantage of and make a lot of money from,” he said.

According to him, the Ministry of Tourism could take advantage of the celebrations and organize music festival and sell their Ghanaian music to the outside world.

“Our roads are very bad, especially the one to the paragliding site at Odwen Anoma and the road leading from Nkawkaw to Atibie,” he said.

As a celebrity, it is difficult to repeat what you wear - Juliet Ibrahim

Actress Juliet Ibrahim has laid bare, just how difficult it is for most celebrities to live a simple, care-free life.

The subject of what most celebrities wear for instance has come up for discussion severally, with most trying hard to impress their fans.

On last weekend’s edition of Fashion 101, the actress said for most Ghanaian celebrities, the choice of what to and what not to wear isn’t too big of an issue. Rather, she said, what most celebrities try to avoid at all times, is to repeat the same clothes over and over.

“You know as a celebrity, it is difficult to repeat what you wear, she told host Sandra Ankobiah.

“I am careful about what I wear,” she added. “I am a crazy person; I can try out crazy things. It’s unfortunate for me the kind of things I want to step out in most of the times, they (referring to the general public) might not just get that”.

Her most expensive fashion items till date she said include handbags, suitcases, and bags from some of the world’s leading brands.

Ibrahim’s expose’, sort of, of how most celebrities try too hard to keep up with appearance, plays into the ongoing debate of how many times of what a celebrity wears is considered enough.

While most don’t care, others like Ibrahim do, and would not to repeat, even if it’s just once.

Last weekend’s edition also featured swimwear designer Aya Morrison, during the Sandra’s Discoveries segment.

Nana Ama McBrown Speaks About Her Accident

Beautiful actress Nana Ama McBrown who was involved in a horrific accident early Wednesday morning, has finally said a few words after being silent since the unfortunate incident.

Nana Ama who is presently on sick bed at the 37 Military Hospital, was able to say a few words to through her publicist Eugene Osafo-Nkansah when he visited her this morning at the health facility.

“I’m fine, I’m okay tell everybody that I’m alright by the grace of God”, Nana Ama said as he held Eugene’s hand with a smile on her face. Nana Ama who has currently been moved from the Intensive care Department to a private ward says to thank all Ghanaians, her friends, family members and her fans all over the world for their support and love in such a time she needs it most.

Nana Ama thanked Almighty God for saving her and her boyfriend Maxwell from such deadly accident. She said it is by miracle that they are still alive looking at the extent their new Black Range Rover was damaged and the impact of crash and the kind of injury they sustained. “I Thank God Almighty for saving our lives, I thank you all, I’m alive and safe. All I need is prayers” .

The only injuries the actress is nursing presently are minor cuts she sustained on her arms from the broken glasses from the window of the Range Rover and an x-ray on the arm shows that fracture was not as severe as reported in the media. At the time of the visit this morning, P.O.P had been applied on her right arm right from beneath her armpit down to her wrist.

This puts to rest false rumors making rounds in the media that the renowned actress will have her arm amputated and those grapevine reports of her death. Meanwhile her boyfriend Maxwell Mensah who also has fractured right arm was discharged on Wednesday evening and he is expected to visit the hospital on daily bases until he fully recovers.

Eugene has debunked some media reports that suggest that Nana Ama was in the car with three other people at the time of the accident. He insists that he was the only person in the car with McBrown and that he was the one driving adding that anything either than the information he has given is totally untrue irrespective of the source.

The ill-fated incident happened early Wednesday morning at about 2am on the Abeka Lapaz stretch of the N1 Highway in Accra. Nana Ama and her boyfriend Maxwell Mensah driving a black four-wheel-drive Range Rover with a temporary licence plate number DV8460 was heading from Osu towards their residence in Mallam.

On approaching the Lapaz traffic lights which were then blinking amber, another vehicle, a taxi cab with licence plate number GR 9922- R approached from the left side and rammed into the Range Rover. They were rushed to the 37 Military Hospital, where they are both receiving treatment.

Police has identified driver of the Opel Vectra taxi cab which crashed into Nana Ama’s vehicle as John Kofi Dogbevi owner of a popular chop bar “Berima Nkwan” located in Lapaz. According to the Police they are yet to trace which hospital John Kofi Dogbevi was taken to for further details.

Nigerian Immigrants Arrested

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested six Nigerians for illegally entering Ghana through the Eastern Frontier.
A statement signed by Mr Acoi Francis Palmdeti, Head of Public Affairs of GIS and copied to the Ghana News Agency said, one of the illegal immigrants is also being investigated on suspicion of engaging in human trafficking and smuggling.
It said Blessing Okoje, a 29- year- old Nigerian lady residing in Ghana without resident permit, entered the country with five other ladies from Edo State with their ages ranging from 21 and 28 years without proper documentation.
The statement said she used an unapproved entry point with the assistance of some border residents. They were however intercepted by officers of the Anti-Human Smuggling and Trafficking in persons Unit of the GIS stationed at the Sogakope in-land barrier.
During interrogations, Okoje, the Leader of the group claimed she is married to a Ghanaian and they both reside in Kumasi.
She also indicated that she and her spouse are about to set up a “chop bar” business, and she is bringing in the ladies to help run the business in order to save cost. The GIS advised that, spouses of Ghanaians who are foreigners are required permits to reside in Ghana and the requirement does not exempt ECOWAS nationals.
The statement said persons who out of ignorance have not fulfilled the necessary requirements should approach the Receiving Counter of the GIS Headquarters or any of its regional offices without fail.
The GIS says it would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that Ghana is not use as a safe haven for human smuggling and trafficking activities.

'Curfew' In Kumasi

Large parts of the country's second major metropolis, Kumasi, have become no-go areas for the city's residents after 6 p.m. due to the regime of terror imposed by knife-and pistol-wielding criminal elements.
The areas in question include Kwadaso, Asafo, Kejetia, the PZ area in Adum, the immediate surroundings of the Total filling station at Krofrom, the IPT area at Tanoso, and Kwadaso.
Even though the police have vowed to make the Ashanti Region uncomfortable for criminals, a number of residents from these communities told The Finder newspaper that they are living under the constant terror from the robbers.
Some said they were forced at gunpoint to surrender every possession they had. “I had to give up my mobile phone, cash, jewels, handbags and even my Bible,” one lady victim said.
Another victim said when he tried to resist three men who wanted to rob him, he was brutally beaten and still robbed of his phone and cash.
The police have admitted that certain criminal activities such as car snatching and armed robbery have been worryingly in the Ashanti Region, but they have also made some breakthroughs by apprehending and killing scores of alleged robbers and retrieved and returned snatched cars to their owners.
But residents maintain that the rate of crime in the city is still high, and have therefore appealed to the police to intensify patrols.

David said” when we got home, my dad, his wife and son descended on me. They tied my hands with rope and started beating me mercilessly.
The prophet allegedly ordered his son to roll on hot ashes.

According to the Tribune newspaper in Nigeria, Prophet Ajibeda has been remanded in prison custody and is charged with physically abusing his son.

He fell ill immediately and all efforts to reverse the curse did not work….
It was too late. However, Ante Yaa Mansah succeeded in reversing the deadly curse invoked on his son who had sex with a friend's wife far away in Spain.
